April 12, 2024: Bond progress at Schickler Elementary, Lapeer High School

Bond projects are continuing across the District, as warm weather is making it conducive for more outside work.

Over Spring Break, new flooring was installed at Schickler Elementary, while at Lapeer High School, work has started outside on the new Multi-Purpose Room as well as what will be the new Science Labs, located near the Auditorium.

In addition, blocks have been put down to start the installation of the new gym at Schickler.

Restrooms at Turrill Elementary and Murphy Elementary have also begun to be updated.

“I am thrilled with the progress we are making at Schickler,” said LCS Director of Operations Brian Badder, who is supervising the bond work. “The flooring looks great and is a major upgrade from what we had at Schickler. The new gym is going to be a major benefit to not only the school but to the community as a whole.”

At the high school, work has started on the Multi-Purpose Room, weight room and classrooms that will be completed for the 2025-26 school year when ninth grade students will be part of LHS as part of the district reconfiguration.

“We are getting started on many projects with the weather warming up, and those will start to pick up steam over the next few weeks and into the summer,” Badder said. “There is a lot to be excited about in Lapeer relating to the bond and the schools.”
