Wednesday evening, the Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education was presented with preliminary timeline information for the projects funded by the LCS Bond Proposal passed by voters in November 2022.
Lapeer Community Schools Superintendent Matt Wandrie spoke to the board at its regular meeting about the overlapping nature of the projects, and the strategies the District will employ to ensure the least disruption to the day-to-day operation of our schools.
“We recognize that once the bond passed, there was a lot of excitement for what’s to come,” Wandrie said. “We are excited, too, but we have to be realistic about the size and scope of the projects, as well as the time required to get all the work completed.
“The sheer number of projects to be undertaken, and the manpower required, necessitates a staged approach over a 3-4 year period.”
The entire process involves three facets: design, procurement, and construction. As it stands today, the District and its partners are in the midst of the design portion of the safety and security (including Schickler open classroom renovations), CFI demolition (and light renovation) and elementary multi-purpose room addition projects (as seen in the chart below):
