Over the next couple weeks, we will look at each school facility in the District and focus on the facility needs that would be addressed with the 2022 Zero-Tax-Increase School Improvement Bond, what we call our “Nuts and Bolts” Plan.
We started with our elementary schools and now we arrive at the middle level with the Rolland-Warner 6-7 Campus!
Many of you might be surprised to know that the current Rolland-Warner 6-7 Campus is the product of a no-tax-increase school improvement bond, similar to the one on the November 8 ballot, that was passed 15 years ago.
Because of the renovation of what used to be known as the Woodside School in 2007, Rolland-Warner is one of our nicest facilities. Because of this, we have only earmarked a tiny percentage of the prospective school improvement funds for this campus. We are fortunate that Rolland-Warner, from a facility standpoint, does not currently have many critical needs as compared to some of our other facilities.
As you can see, there aren’t major projects slated for R-W in this plan. That said, we have long-overdue needs from an HVAC perspective at this building that would be addressed. In addition, you will notice additional playground equipment. This is as a result of the transition of the campus to grades 5-6 (if the bond passes), once we are able to return ninth graders to the high school (more on that coming soon).
The safety and security upgrades for this campus are in line with what we have proposed for our other facilities along with the PA system update.
Next up is the Zemmer 8-9 Campus, which was also renovated with the same 2007 zero-tax-increase school improvement bond referenced above.
